Excessive Oil Consumption on 2011-2015 Subaru 2.0 & 2.5L Engines

The AERA Technical Committee offers the following information on an excessive amount of oil consumption on 2011-2015 Subaru 2.0 & 2.5L engines. It is important to note that this information refers to Subaru's FA and FB engines which are commonly know as "Timing Chain" engines.
Recently, Subaru extended the warranty period for these engines to include the category of excessive oil consumption. Continued consumer complaints of oil consumption may have contributed to their extending short block replacement for certain vehicles. If oil consumption is experienced on the engines listed in the chart below, contact a Subaru dealer for evaluation of that condition.
